Darlene Peters Spicer, age 69, of Booneville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on January 20, 1957, in Virginia Beach, to Victor Leroy and Jacquelyn (King) Carson. Throughout her life, Darlene was known for her kindness, generosity, wonderful sense of humor, and unwavering dedication to her family and grandchildren.
Darlene worked for many years as a CNA at the Owsley County Nursing Home, where she cared for others with compassion and dedication. She also enjoyed volunteering her time at Willie’s Copper Top and working at the Owsley County Recreation Center. Darlene will always be remembered for the love she shared, the laughter she brought to those around her, and the lasting impact she had on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Bill Carson, Linda Carson, and David Carson; and her beloved daughter-in-law, Tonya Peters. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Dana Spicer; her children, Gary “Bub” Peters Jr. and Linda Peters Hollan; her grandchildren, Chandler Peters, Collin Peters (Emily Brandenburg), Shyanna Hollan, Jalynn Hudson, and Sammy Dooley; her brother, Victor Carson; her best friends, Edna “Cookie” Brewer and Nora Ragan; and many other loving family members and friends.
Though Darlene may no longer be with us physically, her love, memories, and legacy will live forever in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her.
