Man arrested in connection to 1992 Perry County murder

Posted

Kentucky State Police have arrested a man in connection with a Perry County cold case dating back more than three decades.

Troy Fugate has been charged with murder, abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence in connection with the disappearance of Michael Woolum in April 1992, according to court records.

An investigator received information from a witness who claimed Fugate admitted to killing Woolum.

The witness reportedly described when and where the incident occurred and said Woolum’s body was placed in the trunk of a vehicle, wrapped in clear plastic, before being moved and disposed of, according to court records

The complaint warrant states there was probable cause to believe Fugate intentionally caused Woolum’s death, improperly disposed of or abused the body, and tampered with physical evidence related to the case.

Fugate is currently being held in the Kentucky River Regional Jail in Hazard.

All are innocent till proven guilty in a court of law.
