After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Rowan County, Menifee County was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 20-19 victory over the Owsley County Owls / Lady Owls. The Wildcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Landon B was a standout: he got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since April 3rd. Bryson J also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Menifee County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Menifee County's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-11. As for Owsley County, they dropped their record down to 8-14 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Menifee County will welcome Phelps at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Owsley County, they will be playing at home against Knott County Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Owls / Lady Owls' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
