Recently, Kentucky cancer survivors Pam Pilgrim and Jennifer True attended U.S. Senate candidate forums, where they spoke with candidates Andy Barr, Amy McGrath and Charles Booker and encouraged them to sign the Cancer Promise.
The Cancer Promise is part of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network’s (ACS CAN) Cancer Votes program, which gives candidates for federal office an opportunity to publicly support ACS CAN’s cancer policy priorities aimed at ending cancer as we know it, for everyone.
Candidates who sign the Cancer Promise pledge to support evidence-based public policy solutions that help accelerate cures, improve access to care, and ensure broad availability of cancer prevention and early detection services.
Cancer is a nonpartisan issue, and ACS CAN says the Cancer Votes program reflects that mission. The organization does not endorse or oppose political candidates, nor does it contribute to campaigns.
Instead, the Cancer Promise serves as a public record of where candidates stand on ACS CAN’s policy priorities. That information is shared with hundreds of thousands of volunteers, members of the media and the public.
ACS CAN encourages all candidates seeking federal office to sign the Cancer Promise and support efforts to reduce the burden of cancer for patients, survivors and families across the country.
