Wilma Sizemore, age 73

Wilma Sizemore, age 73, of Booneville, Kentucky, passed away on August 28, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on July 30, 1953, in Oneida, Kentucky, and lived a life marked by faith, devotion to family, and quiet strength. Wilma was a loving, kind, and gentle woman whose presence brought comfort and warmth to those around her. Wilma was a Christian and found strength in her faith throughout her life. She was a devoted member of the Women’s Group at Lee County Church of Christ, where she shared fellowship, encouragement, and friendship with others. Her faith was an important part of who she was, and it guided the way she cared for her family and treated everyone she met. She was a retired seamstress from Lion Apparel, where she worked faithfully for many years. Wilma took pride in her work and was known for her dependable nature and steady spirit. Even after retirement, she continued to stay active and was employed by the Owsley County Library, where she remained a valued part of the community. Her strong work ethic and kind manner left a lasting impression on those who knew her professionally and personally.

   Wilma is survived by her sons, Paul Sizemore and his wife, Elaine, of Booneville, and Andy Sizemore and his wife, Paige, of Middletown, Ohio. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Austin Sizemore and his fiancĂ©, Kayla Combs; Megan Barrett and her husband, Tristin; Ivy Sizemore; Alanna Sizemore; and Madison Sizemore. She is also survived by her brother, Johnny Byrd of Booneville; her sisters, Barbara Erwin and her husband, Tim, of Ontario, California; Teresa Marshall and her husband, Ricky, of Booneville; and Sheila Woods of Booneville. And a host of nieces and nephews. Her family was a source of great joy in her life, and she cherished each of them deeply.

   She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Byrd; her mother, Lula Byrd; her husband of 50 years, O.C. Sizemore; her brothers, Donnie Byrd and Andy Byrd; and her sister, Lisa Wilson. Wilma carried the memory of her loved ones in her heart throughout her life, and her family now takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with those who went before her.

    Wilma Sizemore will be remembered for her loving heart, gentle spirit, and the kindness she extended so freely to others. Her life was a reflection of faith, family, and perseverance, and she leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

   Funeral services on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at the Booneville Funeral Home with Brother Robbie McKinney officiating.  Burial in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Booneville, KY. The Booneville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
