Phyllis Sue Hamilton Brandenburg, 89, of Beattyville, Kentucky, passed peacefully at home on June 19, 2026. Born on April 29, 1937, in Lee County, Kentucky, Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Brandenburg; her parents, Ed and Nancy Hamilton; and her siblings, Beulah Holder (Quentin), George Lonnie Hamilton, Lena Arnold (Lewis), William Hamilton (Margie), and Naomi Kendrick (Charlie). She leaves behind a loving family: her son, Randall Brandenburg and wife Anita of Beattyville; her daughter, Patricia Brandenburg of Lexington; and her grandchildren, Daniel Brandenburg and Dedra Brandenburg, both of Beattyville.
Many local residents remember Phyllis from her years working at Phillips Department Store, Kentucky Food Store, Riverside Restaurant and at the Bobcat Restaurant. She was a member of the Delvinta Church ofChrist.
Phyllis especially cherished her daily phone calls and enjoyed keeping in touch with family members, friends, and her Farmers Ridge neighbors. Staying connected to those she loved were among the greatest joys of her life. She especially looked forward to family gatherings and cookouts, holidays and the simple happiness of opening gifts surrounded by those she loved.
Kendall Sizemore, Joshua Hagan, Steve Brandenburg, Wayne Richardson, John Hehl, and Denzil Sizemore will be serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are David Holder and George Robert Whisman.
Services held June 23, 2026 at Newnam Funeral Home of Beattyville. Burial; Brandenburg Family Cemetery of Farmers Ridge, Lee Co. Newnam in charge of arrangements.
