The Perry Central Lady Commodores visited The Palace on Monday to face off against the Lady Owls, as the season enters its final week preceding the 56th district tournament, commencing on Monday, Feb. 23, at Lee County.
Perry Central initiated the game with a strong defensive strategy, anticipating passing lanes and forcing Owsley into multiple turnovers, which they successfully converted into layups. Additionally, they scored several buckets from offensive rebounds, securing a 16-6 lead.
 
The Lady Owls regrouped, however, and behind three 3-point makes, secured a 10-2 win in the second quarter, narrowing the Perry lead to 2 points at halftime, 18-16.
 
In the third quarter, Perry's eighth-grader Arianna Johnson made a notable impact off the bench, connecting on three treys and expanding her team's lead to 35-31. In the fourth quarter, Perry maintained their lead and adopted a spread offense strategy. Owsley was forced to foul, and the Lady
 
Commodores successfully converted 8 of 10 free throws to secure a 47-37 victory.
 
Owsley's top scorer was Kamilla Marcum, achieving a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Delaney Smith scored 10 points, Lauren Gay 6, Harley Dooley 3, and Madi Cornett 2.
 
Arianna Johnson was Perry's top scorer with 15 points. Brooklyn Cornett, Ryleigh Feltner, and Ava Cornett each scored 8 points, while Emily Noble and Havyn Hoskins both contributed 4 points.
