The Owsley County Owls saw their postseason run come to an end Tuesday night as they fell to the Lee County Bobcats, 63-58, in the first round of the 56th District Tournament hosted in Lee County.

In a hard-fought battle between familiar district rivals, the Owls kept the pressure on from start to finish. Both teams traded baskets throughout the opening half, with neither squad able to build a comfortable lead. Owsley battled inside the paint and capitalized on key defensive stops to stay within striking distance heading into halftime.

The second half brought even more intensity as the Bobcats worked to create separation. Lee County found momentum midway through the third quarter, knocking down timely shots and converting at the free-throw line. Still, the Owls refused to back down, answering with crucial baskets of their own to keep the game tight down the stretch.

In the final minutes, Owsley made a late push, trimming the deficit and forcing Lee County to earn every possession. However, the Bobcats held steady at the line in the closing seconds to secure the 63-58 victory.

Despite the loss, the Owls displayed determination and resilience throughout the contest, battling until the final buzzer in a game that reflected the competitive spirit of district tournament basketball.
