KY 28 bridge in Owsley County to be reduced to one lane beginning Dec. 1

Temporary signals to control traffic on South Fork span

Posted

Drivers who use the KY 28 bridge crossing the South Fork of the Kentucky River in Booneville in Owsley County should prepare for delays beginning Monday, Dec. 1.

The eastbound lane will be closed for repairs to the sidewalk on the bridge. Traffic will be controlled by temporary signals. Electronic message boards will be in place to warn drivers of the lane closure.

The project is expected to be completed by Dec. 25, weather permitting.

The bridge is located at milepoint 0.2, just east of KY 30 and the courthouse square in downtown Booneville. Slightly fewer than 3,400 vehicles use the bridge each day.
