Helen Ruth Mays, wife of Jesse Vonnie Mays of Beattyville, Kentucky and daughter of the late David Hollon and Margaret Elizabeth Smith was born on April 10, 1947 and passed away on May 3, 2026 at the Compassionate Care Plus Center in Richmond, Kentucky. In addition to her husband, Jesse of 56 years, she is survived by three children, Mary Jo and husband Sam Brown, Rebecca Mays both of Beattyville, and Samuel Mays of Lexington; three grandchildren, Jacob, Cheyenne, and Jagger Tutt; and two sisters, Linda (Prentis) Lawson and Junnie (Gene) Brooks, both of Campton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Woodford, Dewey, Brack, and Ottis Hollon; sisters, Bonnie Banks, Louise Long, Garnett and Barbara Gayle Hollon; and a grandson, Michael Combs.
Services held Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Newnam Funeral Home with burial following in the Fairview Haven of Rest Cemetery on Mill Creek Rd of Beattyville. Newnam in charge of arrangements.
