Evelyn Shelton Parsons Fox, age 79, widow of Bobby Gene Fox, Jr, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at her residence in Beattyville, KY.
Evelyn was born October 8, 1946, in Beattyville, Kentucky, a daughter to the late Nellie Shelton Hobbs and Melvin Parsons. Evelyn was a dedicated homemaker and mother, having a great love for her family. In her younger days she enjoyed watching WLJC, working puzzles, word searches, collecting rocks, and picking blackberries in the warmer weather months. She loved the sunshine and being outside any chance she got. Evelyn’s front door was always open and she welcomed everyone with her big contagious smile and an even bigger hug; the ones where you get squeezed so tight and you know you are loved unconditionally. She was a Christian, and long-time member of Widecreek Church where she enjoyed singing hymns and giving hugs. She spent many of her mornings making made from scratch biscuits and gravy for her kids, grand kids, and great grandkids; whom she loved with all of her heart. After her husband Bobby Fox SR. passed away in 2013, Evelyn enjoyed her time running the roads; she did everything from attend the Primrose Volunteer Fire Department’s pig roasts, passionately pink auctions, local cake walks/benefits, the 52 mile yard sale, and too many concerts to count. Her 1st time ever seeing the Beach was in 2014 at Virginia Beach and then she got to take 11 more trips to Panama City Beach where she enjoyed walking up and down the shoreline collecting seashells. She loved lunch dates and shopping trips with “the girls” as well. She once said, “if the wheels are rolling, then I’m going.” Evelyn smiled at and loved everyone she came into contact with and will be missed by hundreds. How blessed are we to have gotten to know her and love her and spend our days with her? Rest in Peace our precious momma, our Little Granny, our best friend. She is survived by 2 sons; Russell Fox and Bobby (Josie) Fox, Jr , 2 daughters; Della (Mark) Fox and Jalia (Cody) McIntosh, 1 brother; Cecil (Gail) Shelton, all of Beattyville, KY, 6 grandchildren; Alexis (Isreal), Russell Jr (Rachel), Bobby “Bo” (Amber), Austin (Sara), Harley (Kevin), Kenton Joe, and Cody (Nicole), 19 great grandchildren; Aden, Ian, Jalynn, Brooklyn, Gabe, Talon, Hunter, Travis, Benny, Kayden, Bailey, Alaina, Levi, Allie, Kayla, Corey, Katie, Bubba and Destiney and many other loving family members and friends.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years; Bobby Gene Fox, Sr, her parents, Nellie and Melvin, 1 sister, Peggy and 6 brothers; Bradley, Floyd Wayne, Roy, Jeff, Scotty and Denver. 1 grandson; Jeremiah and 1 great grandson; Jeremiah Jr.
Services held March 9, 2026 at Booneville Funeral Home. Mike Spencer and Jeff Hobbs officiating. Burial in the St. Helens Cemetery of Beattyville. Booneville Funeral in charge of arrangements.
