Douglas Harold Deaton, 80, passed away at his residence in Booneville following a long illness.
He was born May 2, 1943 on Wide Creek in Lee County, Ky. He was the son of the late Lambert & Myrtle Burch Deaton and the husband of Barbara K. Gibson Deaton. He was a retired carpenter & mason and he was a christian.
Mr. Deaton is survived by his loving wife of 54 years: Mrs. Barbara K. Deaton of Booneville, son: Mr. David Douglas Deaton of Arizona, daughter: Mrs. Christa Deton Seelye of Michigan, grandchildren: Shane Seelye & wife Ashley, Lauryn Seelye & Brett Seelye all of Michigan, brother: Mr. Carlyn Deaton of Breathitt County, Ky., brother-in-law: Mr. Sam Wilson of Booneville, two sisters-in-law: Mrs. Leona Hughes of Booneville, Ky., Mrs. Ann Deaton of Breathitt County, Ky., very special friends: Noah & Brittany Noble & their children Clay & Cole & lots of nieces, nephews, relatives & friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Lambert & Myrtle Deaton, brother: Nevel Deaton, two sisters-in-law: Irona Wilson & Naomi McIntosh & two brothers-in-law: Virgil McIntosh & Don Hughes.
Funeral services for Mr. Deaton were held Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. at the Searcy & Strong Funeral Home. Officiating the service was the Bro. Rob Morgan. Burial followed in the Gibson-Moore Cemetery.
The Searcy & Strong Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
