Douglas Harold Deaton, 80, passed away at his home in Booneville on October 21, 2023 following a long illness.
He was born May 2, 1943 on Wide Creek, Kentucky in Lee County. He was the son of the late Lambert and Myrtle Burch Deaton and the husband of Barbara K. Gibson Deaton. He was a retired carpenter and a brick mason. He was a Christian man who loved and enjoyed his family, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting and his hobby was being a gunsmith.
Mr. Deaton survived by his loving wife: Mrs. Barbara K. Deaton of Booneville, son: David Douglas Deaton of Arizona, daughter: Christa Deaton Seelye of Michigan, grandchildren: Shane Seelye and wife Ashley, Lauryn Seelye and Brett Seelye all of Michigan, brother: John Carlyle Deaton of Breathitt County, brother-in-law: Sam Wilson of Booneville, two sister-in-laws: Leona Hughes of Booneville, Ann Deaton of Breathitt County, Ky., and very special friends: Noah and Brittany Noble and their children: Clay and Cole and lots of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Lambert and Myrtle Deaton, brothers: Lucian Nevyle Deaton, two sister-in-laws: Irona Wilson and Naomi F. McIntosh and two brother-in-laws: Virgil McIntosh and Don Hughes.
Funeral services for Mr. Deaton were held Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. at the Searcy & Strong Funeral Home. Officiating the service was the Bro. Rob Morgan. Burial followed in the Gibson – Moore Cemetery.
The Searcy & Strong Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
