Carolyn Sue Hobbs Davis departed this earth on June 4, 2026 at age 85. She was born in Lee County, KY on January 17, 1941, to the late Charles Hobbs and Inez Crabtree Hobbs. She grew up in Lee County with her parents, her sister Sandra, and her brother, Richard (Sonny). She was baptized in the summer of 1955 in Lee County. After graduating from Lee County Schools, she received her teaching degree from Eastern Kentucky University in 1964. Sue spent the next 30 years teaching. The first three years were in Knightstown, Indiana and the remaining 27 years were with the Lee County School System. She taught Health and Physical Education as well as being a girls basketball coach and cheerleading sponsor. She married Curtis Davis on May 7, 1977, who passed in 2024 after 47 years of marriage. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Curtis; whether it was for Kentucky Oil and Gas meetings, family visits, Kiwanis excursions, or for random adventures. She was always ready to go and explore with Curtis. She enjoyed being with her family and grandchildren and she always sang every chance she was able.

    Sue, along with her mother Inez, was an active member of Eastern Star for many years and held several offices and positions. She was also a member of the St. Thomas Episcopal church in Beattyville. Sue forever called Beattyville home. Remaining to mourn are her brother Charles (Rena) of Burlington, KY, sister Sandra Waylon of Louisville, KY, stepson Howard (Rebecca) Davis of Lexington Nephew Richard (Michelle) Hobbs of Florence, Niece Monica (Lance) of Florence, Nephew Craig (Melissa) Wayan of Boise, ID. Grandson Trenton Davis of Lexington, KY, Granddaughter Whitney Calabressi (Andres) of Sugar land, Texas. Sue was blessed with great-nephews and great-nieces, and two great-grandchildren Lucas and Mia of Sugar land, Texas.  

    Services held June 9, 2026 at Newnam Funeral Home of Beattyville. Burial; Riverview Cemetery of Old State HWY 11, Lee Co. Newnam in charge of arrangements.
