Aaron Gay, age 71, of Be-
attyville, Kentucky, passed
away on July 17, 2026, in
Lexington, Kentucky. He
was born on April 1, 1955,
in Richmond, Kentucky,
and lived a life marked
by hard work, devotion to
family, and a quiet, steady
kindness that touched all
who knew him. Aaron was
a Christian man whose
faith was an important part
of his life. He was known
by those closest to him as
loving, kind, and thought-
ful, and he carried those
qualities with him in the
way he treated his fami-
ly, friends, and neighbors.
He was strong of heart
with a gentle spirit and a
dependable presence. He
will be remembered for
the warmth and sincerity
he brought to every rela-
tionship. Aaron provided
faithfully for his fami-
ly working consistently
throughout his life. He
retired as a Meat Manag-
er from Kroger and later
worked for the Lee Coun-
ty State Highway Main-
tenance Garage where he
also retired. Aaron took
pride in an honest day’s
work and was respected for
his dedication and strong
work ethic. The people
who worked alongside him
knew him as someone who
could be counted on, and
he approached his respon-
sibilities with humility and
care.
Aaron enjoyed the sim-
ple pleasures of life, es-
pecially spending time
with his faithful wife of
49 years and his beauti-
ful daughter, grandson
and great- grandchildren.
He enjoyed the outdoors,
and spending time on the
front porch where he of-
ten shared good memories
with others. He appreciat-
ed the quiet moments and
the traditions that brought
people together, and those
who spent time with him
will remember his easygo-
ing nature and his love for
the life he built. He is sur-
vived by his wife, Sandy
Gay; his grandson, Austin
Moore and wife Rachel;
his great-grandson, Baron
Moore; his great-grand-
daughter, Mylie Mae
Moore; his brothers, Ron
Gay (Myrdle), and Phillip
Gay (Linda); and his sister,
Doris Maccani. He also
leaves behind many cher-
ished memories with his
extended family and loved
ones who will continue
to hold him close in their
hearts. Aaron was preced-
ed in death by his mother,
Omah Barrett Gay; his
father, Lonnie Gay; his
daughter, Jessica Gay; his
brothers, Bruce Gay, Ben
Gay, and Bob Gay; his
sister, Ilene Hurt. He was
deeply loved by his family,
and the loss of his presence
leaves a lasting emptiness,
even as his memory re-
mains a source of comfort
and strength. Those who
knew Aaron will remem-
ber a man who lived with
dignity, cared deeply for
his family, and faced life
with a steady and humble
heart. His legacy is one of
love, faith, and devotion,
and his memory will be
treasured by all who were
blessed to know him.
