Hershel W. Caudell, husband of Patricia Combs Caudell and son of the late Oliver and Rhoda Keller Caudell was born in Owsley County, Kentucky on April 30, 1945 and departed this life in Lexington, Kentucky on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at the age of 80 years, 8 months, and 15 days. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a former drywaller and plumber.
In addition to his wife Patricia of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, Mr. Caudell leaves behind two sons, Bryan Caudell and Anthony Scott Caudell and wife Tiffany also of Mt. Sterling; two grandchildren, Hunter Barkley and Andrew Barkley and wife Savannah; two great grandchildren, Zayden Rodriguez and Lilith Barkley; one brother, Luther Dean Caudell and wife Betty of Beattyville, Kentucky; one sister, Carrie Reed of Booneville, Kentucky; two brothers-in-law; 4 sisters-in-law; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Rhoda Caudell; and four siblings, Herbert, Arnold, Thelma, and Tootsie.
Services held Jan. 20th, 2026 at Newnam Funeral Home. Burial in Caudell Cemetery of Big Andy Ridge. Newnam in charge of arrangements.
