Active Inmate Shoots and Kills Man

Thomas Rison, 42, of Berea, was shot and killed Monday on Baldwin Street in Berea. 

Steven Gerlaugh, 75, a suspect in the shooting, was later found and arrested. He had been considered armed and dangerous prior to his arrest. The public was encouraged not to approach him.

When Gerlaugh was arrested and booked into the Madison County Detention Center, it showed Gerlaugh as an active inmate and had been charged with murder.

The victim, Thomas Rison, was identified by Carlos Coyle at the Madison County Coroner’s Office.

According to jail records, Steven Gerlaugh’s bond is set at $200,000
