Dorothy Lee Amis Bowling

Dorothy Lee Amis Bowling, 72, of Ricetown, Kentucky passed away Sunday, August 3, 2025 at her residence following a brief illness. Dorothy was born June 7, 1953 in Owsley County, Kentucky.  She was the daughter of the late Allison and Wilma Sandlin Amis.  Dorothy was a beloved cook for the Owsley County Head Start Program and the Owsley County Elementary School for many years, she was a homemaker, loving wife and attended the Indian Creek Church. Dorothy is survived by two brothers Mr. Ronnie “Liz” Amis of Booneville, Kentucky, Mr. Paul Wayne “Sara Belle” Amis of Newport, Kentucky, one sister Mrs. Phyllis “Bobby” Frost of Ricetown, Kentucky and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

  She is preceded in death by her parents Allison and Wilma Sandlin Amis, her husband Clayton Bowling and her sister Reba Woodward. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Indian Creek Church Building Fund in Dorothys memory. Graveside service held Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at the Amis-Baker Cemetery on Grassy Branch, Kentucky with Brother Terry Sandlin officiating.  Burial followed in the Amis-Baker Cemetery. Searcy and Strong Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
