Daniel Keith Smith

July 23, 2025

With broken hearts, we share the passing of Daniel Keith Smith, a devoted father, loving stepfather, cherished son, brother, and friend. Daniel left this world on July 11, 2025, at the age of 38, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and quiet strength that will forever be remembered. Born on May 2, 1987, Daniel was a kind and gentle soul who would go out of his way to help anyone in need. He had a natural gift for making people feel safe, seen, and understood. With his big heart and quick wit, he could lift spirits just by walking into a room — often cracking a joke, making a silly face, or simply being his warm, goofy self. His laughter was contagious, and his love for others ran deep. He was a proud and devoted father to his daughter, Rayanna Honesty Smith, and a loving stepfather to Keelan McDaniel, Malayna McDaniel, and Jaelynn Bennett. Being a dad was his greatest joy and purpose. His children were the light of his life, and he worked hard every day to be the best father he could be. As a son, Daniel brought pride and joy to his parents — his mother Debbie Banks and stepfather Tim Booth, and his father Keith Smith and stepmother Michelle Smith. He was a beloved brother to Patricia Ratliff and Kayla Smith,  and half sister Jessica Smith, and a caring uncle to Kyla Ratliff, Elijah Ratliff, William Caudill, and Paige Caudill. He also shared strong bonds with many stepsiblings, step-nieces and nephews, and extended family who meant so much to him.
Daniel’s life, like many, held challenges. He carried personal struggles that were not always visible, but he faced them with quiet courage and a determination to heal. In the last two years of his life, he began a powerful journey of growth — a path he walked with purpose, hope, and love. That journey showed the depth of his strength and the size of his heart. He shared a meaningful and lasting bond with Breanna Price, the mother of his daughter and his best friend, who remained a steady and important part of his life.
Daniel now follows in death his beloved nephew Zayden Smith, along with other cherished loved ones he held close in his heart. We find comfort in knowing he is reunited with them — surrounded by peace, love, and light. He is survived by his children, parents, sisters, nieces and nephews, extended family, and many more loved ones and friends whose lives he touched with his warmth, humor, and kindness.
Services held July 17th, 2025 at Booneville Funeral Home. Burial in the Esau Gabbard Cemetery of Ricetown. Booneville Funeral in charge of arrangements.
