Eastern Kentucky Man Charged with Attempted Murder in Berea

According to authorities, 45-year-old Dustin Allen of Pike County, was shot at by Berea police after he allegedly pinned an officer between two vehicles at a Walmart Tuesday, April 39, 2025. It was not immediately clear if the officer’s gunshot hit the man, and if it injured him.
Berea Officers were investigating a stolen vehicle report at the Walmart on Jill Street, near Interstate 75, at the time of the incident that was unoccupied. The Officers were waiting for the driver and tried to talk to the driver that got into the car with two other people. The driver, then, put the car in reverse, hitting a truck and pinning an officer between two vehicles. That is when four officers surrounded it and demanded the occupants to show their hands. All three people were detained and treated for their injuries.according to the arrest citation.
The damage to the detective’s vehicle is valued at more than $1,000, according to court documents. The other car Allen hit and the stolen vehicle also sustained damage.
Allen has been charged with attempted murder of a first responder, first-degree criminal mischief, two counts of second-degree criminal mischief, receiving stolen property and first-degree fleeing/evading police, according to court records. He is being held at the Madison County Detention Center on a $500,000 bond.
All are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
